We want
you to be able to make an informed decision; whether it is about working with us
or about applying to a specific medical school. Below are frequently asked questions
from our clients as well as our responses. Though this list is fairly
comprehensive, please do not hesitate to call us at 1.800.809.0800 or
email us regarding
any other questions you may have.
What
differentiates your firm from other admissions consulting firms?
Will
you provide me with an honest assessment of my chances?
Is there a package only for personal statements?
Why don't you advertise a 100% success rate, like some other consultants do?
What payment options do you offer?
Will you write my essays and personal statements for me?
Who
will be my consultant?
How
will I work with my consultant?
Do I have to work with a consultant who lives near me?
What is the company's background?
Our consultants have medical school admissions
committee experience at a wide variety of AAMC accredited U.S. M.D. programs.
Collectively, we have made over 50,000 accept/reject/waitlist decisions.
You wouldn't call your dentist to complete your tax returns, and
you wouldn't ask your accountant to repair your roof. Why would you want to
consult with someone other than a professional with medical school admissions
committee experience for your medical school
applications?
We offer a very comprehensive set of medical
admissions consulting services. Our consultants are not simply glorified proof
readers who examine your personal statements and essays for grammatical
mistakes. They will also ensure that you state what the admissions committees
want to hear. They are qualified to offer you comprehensive admissions advice
and they will get to know you personally, through one-on-one consultations, so
that they can devise the admissions strategy that will work best for your unique
circumstances. Simply put, we will maximize your admissions chances at the
medical schools to which you apply.
Note: Grammatically-correct essays by themselves will
not
gain you admission to medical school. We can assure you that admissions
committees see many more grammatically-correct essays and personal statements
than could be accommodated by available admissions slots.

Absolutely.
AdmissionsConsultants values integrity in the client relationship. We can never
guarantee admittance to any school. However, we can maximize your chances with
your preferred schools by helping you prepare applications, essays, and
interview responses that do justice to your unique strengths as a medical school applicant.
We cannot stress enough the importance of setting
realistic expectations for your top-choice schools.

All of our fixed-fee packages
are comprehensive. The admissions committees review your applications
holistically and we need to do the same to maximize your chances. So, we
need to see how the letters of recommendation, test scores, etc compliment
your essays and vice versa.
To look at your essays in a
vacuum would be to do you a grave disservice. As former admissions officers,
we know this and we take your future too seriously to sell you short with an
incomplete service. Back to top
We
help our clients maximize their chances of gaining admission to
stretch
schools – not to 'sure bets.' That means that we succeed much of
the time, but not always. The success rate for our Platinum Package
clients is just over 75%. We could, without much trouble, make that rate
100% by steering clients toward less competitive schools. But that would be
serving our interests, not our clients' interests. We won't tell a
client to do something just because the outcome would make our
statistics look good. We won't tell someone to apply to a school of osteopathic medicine if they
want to go to Harvard Med and pursue a research career. And we won't tell a client he or she needs our
help to get into a school when we know they could apply successfully on their own, either. Back to top
We appreciate the financial investment you are about to
make as you pursue medical school. Our aim is to make the process easier
and less stressful for you. That said, we offer two payment plans for
our consulting services: Hourly Rate: Our medical school
admissions services bill at an hourly rate of $150. A minimum consultation of
one hour is required. Moreover, you pay only for the services (hours) you
desire. Fixed Fee Rate: Our fixed-fee rates include unlimited essay
revisions and support for a set number of applications.
Finally, we will allow you to deduct the cost of the first hour paid from the
cost of a Platinum, Diamond, or Ultimate
Package
if you wish to continue with our services after the first hour! For more
information, please visit our
fee structure page.
With AdmissionsConsultants, what you see is what you get. There
are no hidden costs. It is just one of the many reasons over 95% of our
clients
return for additional consulting services.

A key step in the admissions process is when admissions
committees determine whether, and how, your character reflects the
school's values. Essays are a critical component in this
evaluation. Essays therefore need to illustrate your unique personality,
your admissions objectives, and your writing style. For that reason, no
one but you can write your essays.
We are happy, however, to give you guidance on how to draw
out your strengths in your essays. We will also edit for grammar, punctuation,
and sentence structure. Essay assistance services are included in the
application fee.
Beware of anyone who offers to write your essays for
you. The move is likely to backfire. "If [this] school feels any part of the application is not
the student's own work, they are immediately disqualified," stated
Robert Alig, the former director of admissions and financial aid at the Wharton School of Business. His statement is just as applicable to
medical school admissions as
it is to business school admissions.
Keep in mind, too, that submitting someone
else's writing or even a canned outline would deprive you of an important chance to tell the
admissions committee who you are. What can set you apart from thousands
of other applicants is the content and quality of your essays AND the degree to
which they reflect and highlight your nature – not that of some stranger.

We want to give you your best chance at success. We do this by
matching you with a consultant who has
medical school admissions
committee experience. When more than one consultant has hours available, we will be glad to
give you your choice of consultants. Call us at
1.800.809.0800 to find
out who currently has availability.
Please note that we do not oversubscribe our consultants. We ask
our consultants to commit to replying to all client queries within 72 hours of
receipt. Once a consultant has accepted the maximum number of clients that he or
she can work with and still honor that deadline, we stop assigning them new
clients. (At peak times on the admissions calendar, it often happens that
all of our medical school consultants wind up being fully booked at the same time.
In that situation, we continue accepting new medical school applicants as clients,
but make it clear to them that we can only offer the services of graduate school
admissions consultant whose admissions committee experience does not include med
school.)

You will receive one-on-one attention from your assigned
consultant. This arrangement garners an accurate and thorough understanding of
your needs, objectives, personality and strong points. Moreover, our consultants
collaborate and brainstorm with each other, so that no detail of your
application process is overlooked.
If you are interested in working with someone face-to-face,
please call us to discuss availability.

Before AdmissionsConsultants was formed, David Petersam, the
company's founder, successfully guided several friends and acquaintances through
the turbulent admissions process that guards the nation's elite business
schools. After witnessing how successfully his admissions strategies worked for
these individuals – and being told by these same applicants that he should
start an admissions consultancy – AdmissionsConsultants was formed. Soon
thereafter, we expanded into medical school admission consulting using the same
successful formula of hiring the most highly qualified consultants. Since our founding
in 1996, we have helped thousands of applicants gain admission
into their top-choice med schools.
