Duke University announced its smallest tuition increase in over 20 years. The 3.9% increase should be more than offset by an anticipated 4.2% increase in the financial aid endowments.
Click on the “Financial Aid” tab of the hyperlinked Duke University profile page in the first paragraph. First of all, you will notice the average net cost is similar to that of public universities. Additionally, you will see the graduate debt is favorable to public universities.
In summary, please don’t rush to include cost as a school selection factor. We know it’s important. However, more often than not, the net price at the top private colleges is extremely competitive with lower-ranked colleges.
