In College Selection

Student admission workers at Hamilton College are seeking to unionize. Consequently, the United Food and Commercial Workers has filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to represent the students.

While we have previously blogged about graduate student workers seeking to unionize, this is the first instance of undergraduate student workers seeking to similarly unionize. “We are calling for higher wages, a uniform disciplinary process, and greater respect,” stated a student leader of the unionizing effort at Hamilton College.

Given the current administration, we think the chances of the NLRB approving the petition will be favorable. Clearly, if you are a prospective college applicant, this is the type of data you want to analyze as you shortlist your final list of target colleges.
