UC Berkeley is being sued by Jewish groups for alleged “longstanding, unchecked antisemitism.” This is one of the first such lawsuits to be filed against an American university since the start of the current war between Hamas and Israel.

There have been videos circulating the Internet that seem to show antisemitic attacks on the Berkeley campus — as well as many other campuses across the country. One Berkeley student was quoted as saying, “My understanding is that I’m not seeing the university enforce policy in place, and when you don’t enforce policy in every situation only certain situations, that to me is discrimination.” That same student added she felt her education was being hindered by the antisemitic actions that have occurred on the campus.

Berkeley has denied wrongdoing in this case. As is our company policy, we predicate anything currently in litigation as “alleged.” This is done to attempt to show neutrality, acknowledge there are two sides to every story, and clearly protect our company from any liability.

Based on our interactions with our applicants, we do believe that a noticeable decline in Jewish enrollment could emerge at certain schools if the current climate does not change by the time the high school class of 2025 is ready to apply.
