The University of Virginia admitted 1,113, or 24.9%, of its 4,466 early decision (ED) applicants as the school begins to assemble its Class of 2028. This year’s ED applicant pool eclipsed last year’s record pool of 4,243 applications by 5.3%. The acceptance rate, however, did rise from 24.5% last year to 24.9% this year.

Of the 1,113 admitted applicants, 782 are Virginia residents, 351 are out-of-state US citizens, and 73 are international residents. Virginia law mandates that at least two-thirds of students at UVA must be Virginia residents. UVA chose not to break down ED admittees by race and no further admissions statistics are available at this time.

The regular decision deadline for UVA is January 5 and applicants should expect to receive their decisions by April 1.
