West Point is being sued for using race in its admissions decisions.
West Point has been accused by Students for Fair Admissions of illegally using race as a determining admissions factor. The lawsuit accuses West Point of violating the Constitution’s Fifth Amendment and comes months after the Supreme Court’s ruling against affirmative action in college admissions.
In the filed lawsuit, Students for Fair Admissions claims, “Instead of admitting future cadets based on objective metrics and leadership potential, West Point focuses on race. In fact, it openly publishes its racial composition ‘goals,’ and its director of admissions brags that race is wholly determinative for hundreds if not thousands of applicants.”
