Yale University received 7,313 early action (EA) applications for its class of 2026, an eight percent decrease from last year. Only last year’s Class of 2025 submitted more EA applications when 7,939 applied. While this year’s EA pool is a bit smaller, first-generation college students, international students, and underrepresented minorities all increased again this year.
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid Jeremiah Quinlan explained, “As always, the admissions office is much more interested in the strength and diversity of the pool of students who apply to Yale each year than simply the number who apply.”
We wish all of the Class of 2026 applicants the very best of luck and we anticipate this year’s EA acceptance rate will be a bit higher than last year’s 10.5%.
