Thanks to a $150 million gift from David Geffen, the Yale School of Drama will become tuition free for perpetuity for full-time students in degree and certificate programs beginning with this coming fall semester. The school is also being renamed the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University. Yale President Peter Salovey stated, “David Geffen’s visionary generosity ensures that artists of extraordinary potential from all socioeconomic backgrounds will be able to cultivate their talent at Yale.”
We’re interested to see how this gift may boost Yale’s impressive list of actor alumni which already boasts Meryl Streep, Frances McDormand, Angela Bassett, Paul Giamatti, and Lupita Nyong’o.
