Vermont Law School (VLS) appears likely to be sanctioned. This is a result of a scathing report from the American Association of University Professors (AAUP). You see, the AAUP was very upset VLS terminated tenured faculty. Making matters even worse, the AAUP found no formal declaration of financial exigency. Furthermore, VLS continued to invest “significant sums” in its strategic plans.
While the AAUP doesn’t explicitly carry the same weight as the ABA, the ABA usually takes note of its reports. Finally, VLS comes up for re-accreditation with the ABA next year.
