Allegations of racial bias from a black faculty member have prompted the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to put the Tulane University School of Medicine on probation. The ACGME did not release details on the specific allegations that led to the accreditation probation. The school is now required to notify in writing all current residents and fellows, as well as applicants for those resident and fellow positions, of its probationary status. Should Tulane lose accreditation, it would lose federal grants and Medicaid training funding.
