The University of Michigan Medical School is building a new $920 million 264-bed hospital it is touting as the most advanced in the state of Michigan. The university’s board of regents approved the building earlier today. The new hospital is expected to help alleviate overcrowding at the main medical campus in Ann Arbor. While it isn’t expected to open until 2024, it is expected to specialize in neurological, neurosurgical, cardiovascular and thoracic care. Furthermore, the hospital will include 20 high-tech operating rooms as well as three “cutting-edge interventional radiology suites.”
