You did indeed read that correctly. The previously reported delay in the US News & World Report medical school rankings has now been extended “indefinitely.” For any prospective joint MD/JD degree applicants, US News has similarly extended the delay of its law school rankings indefinitely as well.
We think one of two things is going on. Perhaps the US News staff was less accurate with this year’s rankings. Or, maybe many law schools are now more concerned with the published rankings now that they are no longer participating. It is certainly possible the truth lies somewhere in the middle and the indefinite delay is due to a combination of these two factors. Because different parties can reach different conclusions, we will refrain from any attempt to assign blame on this rankings delay.
